• Installing a single-server IBM FileNet P8 Platform system with IBM Content Navigator

    Product documentation

    Abstract

You can install all of the IBM FileNet P8 Platform components on a single server, including the middleware applications such as the database and web application server software. When you provide all the installation software for the components and run the installation program, the IBM FileNet Composite Platform Installation Tool installs and configures the entire IBM FileNet P8 Platform environment automatically.

    Content

This document contains the following sections:

    Preparing for the installation
To prepare for the single-server installation, you must create a download directory with all the software packages that are required for a full FileNet P8 Platform installation. You can download the installation packages from the IBM Passport Advantage website. Additionally, for each operating system certain prerequisites must be met.

    Configuring local users and groups
The Composite Platform Installation Tool installation creates local users and groups for your FileNet P8 Platform environment.

Running the Composite Platform Installation Tool
The Composite Platform Installation Tool uses the software images that you downloaded to install and configure the IBM FileNet P8 Platform environment on your server. You can choose to run the installation tool interactively by using a wizard or silently by specifying installation values in a silent input file.

    Verifying a successful installation
After you install and configure your single-server IBM FileNet P8 Platform environment, you can use the Content Engine Health Page and the IBM Content Navigator to verify the success of your installation.

    Changing the default passwords
When you run the installation tool to configure your single-server IBM FileNet P8 Platform environment, the installation tool creates default credentials for the system. After you install and verify your environment, you must change the default passwords on the user accounts to more secure values, and you must remove the password from the scripts that are used during the installation.

    Cleaning up the system

If you want to rerun the Composite Platform Installation Tool installation on the same physical server as a previous installation, you can follow these instructions to ensure that you removed all IBM FileNet P8 Platform components and middle-ware software installations.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
    Preparing for the installation

The Composite Platform Installation Tool requires a server with no existing IBM FileNet P8 Platform components or middle-ware software installations.

The Composite Platform Installation Tool supports only 64-bit versions of the following operating systems:

    • AIX versions 6.1, 7.1
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 5.x (5.5 minimum), 6.x
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2

To prepare for the single-server installation, you must create a download directory with all the software packages that are required for a full FileNet P8 Platform installation. You can download the installation packages from the IBM Passport Advantage website.

The Composite Platform Installation Tool uses a set of predetermined software installation packages. See Downloading software packages for a single-server installation of IBM FileNet P8(http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24030145) for the list of part numbers that identify the packages that you need to create the download directory.

    To prepare for the installation:

    1. Log on as an administrator to the server where you plan to run the Composite Platform Installation Tool.
    2. Create a directory for the installation packages, for example, Platform_Downloads. You must have at least 30 GB of space available.
    3. Download all of the following installation packages to the download directory that you created. Download the installation packages as compressed files, but do not extract the installation packages in the download directory.
    IMPORTANT
: Make a note of each file name and component as you download or copy the file into the download directory. Files that are named as part numbers might be difficult to identify later when you must rename the files to the names that are used by the installation tool.

    Required packages:
      • Content Engine 5.1.0
      • Content Engine Client 5.1.0
      • Process Engine 5.0.0

    ________________________________________________________________________________
    Changing the default passwords
When you run the installation tool to configure your single-server IBM FileNet P8 Platform environment, the installation tool creates default credentials for the system. After you install and verify your environment, you must change the default passwords on the user accounts to more secure values, and you must remove the passwords from the scripts that are used during the installation.

    To change the default passwords:

Follow the instructions in the Security documentation to change the default passwords. For details, see the IBM FileNet P8 help topics under Security > IBM FileNet P8 Security > How to....http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/p8docs/v5r1m0/topic/com.ibm.p8.security.doc/p8pss000.htm

To remove the passwords in the installation scripts

    1. Open the install_path/IBM/cpit/readme.txt file.
    2. Run the pwdchange script:
      UNIX: ./pwdreset.sh password
      Windows: pwdreset.bat password
    3. Verify that pwdchange updates all installation scripts by wiping out the Administrative password from every script.
Review the list of installation scripts that are included in the
    pwd_filelist.txt
file. Check each of the installation scripts to ensure that the passwords are removed.

    _________________________________________________________________________________
    Cleaning up the system

If a single-server installation must be repeated, the following checks are helpful to prevent any issues.

This example assumes a Linux deployment.

    1. Make sure that processes are not running on ports 9080 and 3737 (for example, lsof -wni tcp:3737) for the following software packages:
      • WebSphere
      • Tivoli Directory Server
      • DB2
    2. The Tivoli Directory Server installation must be cleaned completely, leaving no residual DB2 instances, users, groups, or any DB2 or Tivoli Directory Server entries in the registry.
    3. To ensure that the single-server installation is uninstalled, check for the following users and groups:
      1. Ensure that users that were created by the Composite Platform Installation Tool are removed from the /home directory by using the following command:
userdel -r username for the following users:
gcddbusr, nxsdbusr, osdbuser, P8Admin, dsrdbm01, idsldap
      2. Ensure that groups that were created by the Composite Platform Installation Tool are removed by using the following command:
        cmd groupdel groupname
for the following groups: fnop , fnusr , idsldap , grrdbm01 , fnadmin
    4. Remove any residual directories that might not be removed after uninstalling the respective components:
      1. Remove the DB2 directory if it is present in the /var directory.
      2. Remove the idsldap directory from the /var directory.
      3. In the /usr/local/bin directory, remove the db2ls directory.
      4. Remove the following directories by using the following commands:
        rm -rf /home/dsrdbm01
        rm -rf /opt/IBM/NEXUSDB2
        rm -rf /opt/IBM/CPITDB
        rm -rf /opt/IBM/ltpakeys.txt
