Judge person by their appearance.
I don't think it is reliable to judge person by the first glance.
Firstly, appearance does not represent all. The information of a person you can get from a glance is very limited. You can not tell many things just from the appearance, such as the past, eating habits, hobbies and so on.
Furthermore, appearance lies, it may tricks you. What you can get is partial, which may even lead to prejudice. A person who dresses decently and talks sincerely does not imply that he is definitely innocent and kind.
You can not judge a book from its cover. So I support that one should not judge a person just from the appearance.
Learning from the experience of yours.
I think it is more important to learn from personal experience, although advices from others are helpful and sometimes necessary.
From the outset, when you have problems or get into a dilemma, you are the person who's familiar with what you really want and it will promote you to develop the ability to solve problems. Advices from others may be just the opposite to your expectations.
In addition, more personal experiences will make one more mature and capable. You can have a better understanding of the society in a more comprehensive and objective way.
So I would like to learn from personal experience.
