Why after calling plt.show() followed by plt.savefig() , the figure is blank ?

• plt.show() should come after plt.savefig()

Why figure is not popped up ?

• Add these statements to the beginning of code to use Qt5Agg backend
  • import matplotlib
  • matplotlib.use('Qt5Agg')
  • import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
• Verify with matplotlib.get_backend()
• In Spyder - Tools - Preferences - IPython Console - Graphics,  set Backend to Qt5
