Post subject: About software update
Hi All
I can't update myeclipse via Help->Software updates ->Check for updates.
I got an error:" Check for updates... requires a network connection in order to connect to the server. Try this again after network connectivity has been restored."
And
"There was an error while processing the catalog
Error contacting server
Server is not currently available; /pulse/action/getCatalog failed
"
I tried many times, but still failed to update myeclipse. But it works when I use non-Chinese proxy,(I'm in China now) it's very slow! A large amount of myeclipse users in China have the same issue, what should I do to get update work? Thanks.

Hello killianwong,
Unfortunately, due to repeated distributed DNS attacks originating from China we were forced to place very large firewall blocks that affect a large number of IP addresses in China. Our intent is certainly not prevent access by legitimate Chinese users so we are working on a case by case basis to restore access. If you can provide the IP addresses that you use to access our sites we'll restore access for those IPs.

I don't have a static IP , especially when I'm using cable modent, I only have a private IP address. How long will it take your guys to unban a ip?
PS: Could myeclipse offer a proxy or something else to make the software update work? it's very unconvenient now, and this last for several months.
I'v asked my colleagues and friends from many different palces, none of them could visit myeclipse homepage .it seems that myeclipse have ban all Chinese IP, I think it's not a good ideam ...

Maybe you could try using a dynamic DNS service Genuitec could unblock at the hostname level.

killianwong,
The issue you're seeing is likely caused by trying to access one of our download servers directly in a browser. You can download MyEclipse 7.5 from the downloads page without any issues here:

thanks scott, it works.
I think your guys should unblock all chinese ip at lease one day of a week, monday/tuesday/.... any one you wish...
If this cann't be done, maybe you should figure out another way to provide upgrade service,. since it's myeclipse's duty
