This will follow up our football video exchange trial balloon that we conducted a few weeks ago.
Our coaches have come up with a list of services they desire from whichever company provides our Conference internet film exchange software. After our trial balloon with four companies (yours included), the ideal software package would conform to the following points:1. Allow a coach, in a one-step process, to copy a sideline view of that Saturday's game from his digital camera to the video editor station through Firewire, simultaneously transcoding the tape from an AVI file to a Windows Media file, and then transmitting it to your server. While a coach would need to be present at the start of this process, we request that his presence not be needed after each phase.
2. The conference will be transmitting both a sideline view and an end zone view of each game. The coaches request the ability to send two views at the same time using two different computers, (a video editor station plus another computer set up to the proper specs to run the program), if they choose to do so. The coaches would provide a video exchange contact person if there would be a problem with the exchange process (interruption of an upload). The company could contact this person to restart the process if necessary.
3. Your company should have the ability to send the appropriate opponent’s end zone and sideline view to the schools overnight, so when the coaches come into their offices at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday the two views are on their editor station and have already been transcoded back to AVI files to interact with their editing software package. Again, the company would be able to call the video contact coach if there was a problem with the download. The OAC would provide all the necessary information such as composite schedules and contact numbers to make this process work. The OAC football coaches would also be willing to work with the company to set up time frames to make this process equitable and fair for all schools and the company.
4. The final piece involves the coaches being able to go to your server and download previous games of their upcoming opponents. The coaches would need to be able to select multiple games and views (end zone, sideline) and at the push of button have these views downloaded and transcoded to AVI files. This process would occur during evening hours from Sunday through Thursday when the schools servers are the least crowded. The access to opponents' games would reflect the rules and regulations of the OAC.
